Mission

The Department of Corrections enhances public safety by providing effective programs, re-entry services, and supervision of sentenced offenders in a humane, cost-efficient manner, consistent with sound correctional principles and constitutional standards.

Application Process

• For employment consideration, individuals must submit an electronic application through the Commonwealth’s Recruitment Management System (RMS) at: https://jobs.agencies.virginia.gov/.
• Applications must be completed in full to receive consideration.  This includes specific information in the announcement related to education, work history and certification/licenses.  An incomplete application may eliminate individuals from consideration for a position.  Therefore, there should be an explanation of any gaps in employment from high school to present.
• Consideration for an interview is based solely on information provided in the application.  A resume will not substitute for a fully completed application.  Applications which include references to "See resume" will be considered incomplete.
• The RMS system will provide a confirmation of receipt when an application is electronically submitted.  Applicants should refer to their Virginia Jobs account for status of applications and positions.

The Internal VADOC Vacancy List is normally published weekly on Fridays at 1:00 pm.  If you are looking for a position that closes on today's publish date, it may no longer appear on the Internal VADOC Vacancy List.  You will need to access the position directly through the Commonwealth's Recruitment Management System (RMS) using the following link: https://jobs.agencies.virginia.gov. Applications will be accepted through RMS until 5:00 pm today.  You may search for the position in RMS using the position number, working title, or specific agency.
